The first book in the bestselling Mark of the Lion series, A Voice in the Wind brings readers back to the first century and introduces them to a character they will never forget--Hadassah. Torn by her love for a handsome aristocrat, this young slave girl clings to her faith in the living God for deliverance from the forces of decadent Rome.

Believed dead, Hadassah finds employment helping a doctor in the poor section of first-century Rome and discovers an ability to heal others through the power of her faith. When Julia falls ill, Hadassah is forced to confront a difficult decision: should she return to the Valerian household, risking exposure and death, to help her former tormentor in the Christian tradition?

Continuing to search for meaning and faith, Marcus turns away from the opulence of Rome, led by a whispering voice from the past into a journey that could set him free from the darkness of his soul.

This edition includes a foreword from the publisher, a preface from Francine Rivers, and discussion questions suitable for personal and group use.

This book, I found to be absolutely riveting. An excellent story set in the first century A.D. is the first of a trilogy spanning the Roman empire in those days. It follows the story of a young jewish girl left alone and taken into slavery after Jerusalem is left devastated by the Roman army. Several threads are running through the story and the characters are intertwined as certain events take place. The author's research is superb and the historical facts throughout the story are very interesting. Certainly the best history lesson I have ever had! This is an excellent book and by the end of this,my first book by Francine Rivers I was a fan. This book will leave you impatient to read the rest of the trilogy.

I loved this whole series. In fact many people that I recommended it to grabbed on to it and also loved it. I know of at least one salvation as a result of a lady reading this book. Several others are searching and asking questions about God because of it.
