Small compact, easy to read New Testament bible. Bought in large numbers, as part of our street ministry, to make God known to those who have never encountered his amazing Grace. A good starting point, for anyone, who wants to know about Christ, and the reason why he came to live among us.

This New Testament NIV is a great introductory bible. We have them in our church for people to take free of charge who otherwise do not own a bible. Over the last couple of years there have been a steady uptake. A great cost effective way of reaching people with this nice basic edition. A great outreach bible.

Not a high quality item (physically anyway!), but it's ideal for giving to people. Just make sure that they want to hear it.

This bible is great value for an outreach bible. Would recommend.

COVER The cover has a different version of the famous Our Father Who Art In Heaven King James Version that many would be able to pray. The pristine white background could have been more wisely used with a beautiful photo instead, as some Bible-style books would have to increase sales. The punctuation isn't correct either as it should be YOUR KINGDOM COME, YOUR WILL BE DONE... Some won't appreciate the calligraphy on the front cover and some will, so that's another way to see it. COPYRIGHTS The New International is an easy read and we can study the opening pages to see copyright permissions for various ways we can quote the verses, such as mentioning the source as NIV. EXTRA COMMENTS Some end of page comments explain a few of the variations in translation. By the way, sales help towards the cost of doing translations in the future as well. SPACING BETWEEN THE PAGES My main problem is that the central section between the pages is disappointingly way too narrow and we can't access the right edge and left edge of this area so as to read the text properly. We really have to force the pages back to reveal the text so as to read it and to recite it. However, this also applies to more expensive Holy Bibles and New Testaments. There are wide margin options we can check out instead. Some sellers offer us image displays to help us see the text enough to choose more user-friendly options. TWO-COLUMN DISPLAYS AND BOOK DETAILS This NIV New Testament by Hodder has two-column style displays and the back cover states that the NIV is the most popular Bible translation in modern English. For reference purposes, it's the I S B N 978-1-444-70169-2 in British Text and clearly priced at 99p. The website is the co-uk domain for hodderbibles and the Cover Design is by Lydia Blagden copyright John Murray Press. BOOK COVER REMINDERS, MORE BOOK DETAILS When I was in School, we had text books. We used to make book covers to protect the covers. When I visited public libraries, they used see-through plastic-style book covers with different sizes for the standard books and paperbacks. This New Testament is 300 pages which includes details about the NIV and about the New Testament books and useful extras such as a map of the famous locations, so these extras are helpful, too. COMPARISONS AND CHECKING TEXT SIZES Not 100% ideal for OUTREACH and Bible study readings but superb value as a secondary way to study once people buy the full Holy Bible versions out there for about £2, £4 or £5 and so on. Overall, I prefer the large print or larger print versions with about 700, 800, and even 1200 pages. Here is where I would mention again the images of the text sizes as well as the font style. We don't lose by buying different versions at different prices whether new or secondhand. READING GLASSES AND EYE PROTECTION ADVICE It's just that we do the adequate research to assess what suits our eyes best. Otherwise, use reading glasses that improve the text displays for us. I use 2.25 magnification for my computer and for reading text here and there. Some reading glasses have a specific shape that works better than others. I found that out when buying the ReadySpex G45 landscape-shaped reading glasses as the best for my eyes. Otherwise, I couldn't be typing my review right now. So make adjustments to suit your eyes and protect them as long as you can. If necessary, visit a local chemist selling such reading glasses. Also research the blue glasses protecting from rays that could damage the eyes. In fact, I love the energy-saving daylight full spectrum light bulbs I fitted around the house. These help me read text even better. So much so that I am recommending these to all Bible students buying the budget-priced Bible resources such as this NIV New Testament for just 99p. COMPARE WHAT'S AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW Please buy some of these and then compare with other versions such as the New King James Holy Bible version and look out for other Hodder books which support future translations.
