The world's most popular Bible translation in modern English, presented in paperback as a literary classic.

As the sacred text of Christianity, the Holy Bible has long been the world's bestselling book. Its incredible stories and profound teachings have shaped our culture and its values underpin our way of life.

Love it or loathe it, there's no doubting that this work has a fundamental place in history, and as such is a 'must read' for anyone seeking to understand the development of modern society.

With over 400 million Bibles in print, the New International Version is the world's most popular modern English Bible. It is renowned for its combination of reliability and readability. Fully revised and updated in 2011, the NIV is ideal for personal reading, public teaching and group study.

This Bible also features:

  • Clear, readable 7.25pt text
  • Easy-to-read layout shortcuts to key stories, events and people of the Bible
  • Reading plan
  • Quick links to find inspiration and help from the Bible in different life situations.
  • This edition uses British spelling, punctuation and grammar to allow the Bible to be read more naturally.

Royalties from all sales of the NIV Bible help Biblica, formerly the International Bible Society, in their work of translating and distributing Bibles around the world.

Some people have criticised the NIV, saying that it contains many errors. This is largely because of a chain email dating from 2015. The truth is that a number of verses contained in KJV were not in the most reliable ancient manuscripts. These verses have been relegated to being footnotes in the NIV and other English translations. An extract from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_New\_Testament\_verses\_not\_included\_in\_modern\_English\_translations says: "The New Testament verses not included in modern English translations are verses of the New Testament that exist in older English translations (primarily the King James Version), but do not appear or have been relegated to footnotes in later versions, such as the New International Version (NIV). Scholars have generally regarded these verses as later additions to the original text. Although many lists of missing verses specifically name the NIV as the version that had omitted them, these same verses are missing from the main text (and mostly relegated to footnotes) by the Revised Version of 1881 (RV), the American Standard Version of 1901,\[1\] the Revised Standard Version of 1947 (RSV),\[2\] the Today's English Version (the Good News Bible) of 1966,\[3\] and several others." An Internet search on the "Origin and Growth of the English Bible" will revel that there are scrolls such as the Dead Sea Scrolls (1947) and other newly-discovered manuscripts that the KJV does not refer to. Because of these new discoveries in relation to the KJV, the KJV is not an accurate translation of the Bible today.

I bought 12 of these Bibles for a friend to send to our charity in Nigeria. She received a chain email yesterday which criticises the NIV. It is an email from 2015 . I have discovered it’s source and find it contains many errors about the NIV. She cannot be placated. Is this Bible the 2011 translation which does have some issues? She wants me to return them but I don’t think it’s necessary and it is more than 14 days since purchase. She also thinks the publisher is disreputable because of what this strange chain letter type email says. I just need to know which NIV version it is and then I can try to show her why it’s an ‘ok’ translation. I would have thought the Nigerian recipients would have preferred KJV anyway! Thanks for listening. Yours in Christ Jane Newton
