This is a very good buy and a pleasure to listen to, just one thing, the discs are MP3format and most CD players do not play it so make sure you have a CD player which plays MP3.

First of all, I should say that I have the 'normal' version of the David Suchet audio Bible, and regard it as simply THE best audio Bible available. He gives the words time to breathe, and he doen't so much read the stories as act them. He really brings the words to life. But this review relates solely to the 'Bible in One Year' version. My heart leapt when I heard that they were releasing it in this format, and I've been waiting for it eagerly. Now that I have it, I have to say that I'm hugely disappointed. I wanted to put it on my phone so I could look up and play each day's reading. I'd expected that each filename would be self explanatory - something like Jan\_01\_OT, or Dec\_25\_NT - something like that. Instead there are three files for each day, all with totally non-intuitive titles like 9781473640467\_01\_0067\_BIOY (and, bizarrely IMO, having the OT reading as the final reading of the day). Instead of sensible track names, you get a little leaflet to tell you which three tracks on which CD you need to play for any given date. It's really not nearly as useful as just giving the tracks meaningful names. Personally I intend to rename every one of the tracks so that I can see which day of the year it relates to - but I really SHOULDN'T have had to do that. This is a bit like buying a paper one-year bible, then finding that you have to consult a leaflet to see which page numbers you should look up for any given day. So... They took the best audio bible available, and made a bit of a mess of it. If you have the previous version, I honestly wouldn't bother with this. If you DON'T have the previous version, do yourself a favour and buy it! But this one? Sorry. I found it a HUGE disappointment.

David Suchet has a voice that aids concentration, that brings clarity and somehow makes scripture live in a new way. Familiar passages become gems, less well known passages take on a new importance. David's accent seems neutral and he reads with a warmth and depth of understanding that makes the passage live. What a lovely voice! Often just listening makes scripture come alive in a new way as it removes the higher concentration levels that a book requires..... and you more easily listen, and helps you to lose yourself in scripture as you travel as well as when settling down at home. I bought this for a new Christian and she absolutely loves it - and she does not have to struggle over pronunciation of names and unfamiliar words! I have it in CD form and on my phone. It was avdery good purcahse.
