David Stern's original translation of the Jewish New Testament broke new ground in that it was a contemporary translation which unlike all the other translations I have read and possess, brought out the Jewishness of the original NT writers' Jewish background, which the KJV translators and most since had simply missed though their unfamiliarity with the Hebrew language and its idioms. Then Stern's Commentary on his translation similarly opened up the wealth of Jewish background and thinking which we, lay people certainly, had not know before. David Stern has gone to his great reward: but now we have a study bible which has been authored by another Messianic believer which enriches our understanding of the Jewish background of the scriptures even more. On top of all that, the publishers of the Complete Jewish Study Bible have adopted a beautifully artistic page layout, and with a faux leather binding and thin paper - for this believer at least - makes this Bible a treasure to treasure!

A really good resource. I use it daily for devotionals and for study. The Torah/Haftorah index is helpful as is the pronunciation guide. Best of all, it shows clearly the Jewishness of the text and the Jewish origins of the writers. It is excellent for Messianic Jews, gentile believers, and those who just want to know God better. It is asthetically gorgeous, gold edging, and beautiful book intro designs, has 3 ribbon markers, is very robust. Not a handbag bible though! Great as a gift/presentation bible or for personal blessing.
