10 Christmas Activity Ideas for Families

The Christmas season can be an action-packed time. Full of nativity plays, present shopping, wrapping and visiting loved ones. Sometimes, amongst the chaos, it can be nice to slow down and enjoy some quiet family time at home.

My guide to Christmas activities will help your family come together. You can enjoy festive fun and find moments of peace and quiet.

1. Bake Together!

I see myself as a Christmas expert. For me, nothing smells more festive than the warm spices of gingerbread.

Whether you're baking cookies, a gingerbread family, or building an entire palace,'Bake Through the Bible at Christmas' has you covered.

It offers fun, family-friendly recipes along with Bible stories. You can engage your little ones with intention as you discuss the Nativity story and journey to Bethlehem.

Plus, you'll end up with delicious treats to share with neighbours (if you wish!)

2. Colour In!

Feet up, hot chocolate poured and colouring pencils at the ready.

We have a vast array of Christmas colouring books, including some for adults.

'Colour with the Bible: Jesus is Born' is a brand-new Nativity colouring book. Small in size but full of Bible verses alongside nativity scenes. Children will learn all about the first Christmas as they colour and read.

'Nativity Activity Sticker Books' are bright Christmas activity booklets packed full of sticker scenes, mazes, colouring pages and more. Children will love decorating the scenes and cracking the puzzles, all themed to the Nativity story. Available in a pack of 8, these little books are ideal for each child and can easily be shared with little friends.

3. Stick It!

Nativity sticker books abound at Eden!

Families have enjoyed the 'Baby Jesus is Born Sticker Book' as a firm festive favourite for many years.

Each page includes space for sweet stickers and features bright Nativity scenes that little hands can adorn. Interactive learners can hunt-and-find the right sticker as they read the Christmas story.

Alternatively, Sally Wright's 'My Mini Bible Sticker Book: Christmas' is a delightful little book for preschool aged children. Crafty kids can complete bright Nativity scenes with colourful stickers. If you are on the go this season, slip this into a bag for festive fun when you're out and about!

4. Craft & Create!

Why not create lasting decorations together as a family? Colour in and display bright window decorations, pretty baubles or even create your own nativity scenes. The 'Nativity Craft-it! Box' is a Christmas activity kit containing everything you need for a craft-filled Christmas, ideal for families with children aged 3-9.

'Nativity Colour-in Cracker Kits' enable you to create fun additions to your Christmas table. Colour them in to create completely unique crackers, then stuff them with a hat, joke and even a little gift for each family member.

5. Colour in and Learn!

Our special collection of colour-in-and-learn products includes colouring placemats, pillowcases, and even pyjamas. Each item offers a fun learning experience. From geography to dinosaurs and butterflies these wash-out sets are fun additions to December boxes. They also provide screen-free education.

Our dinosaur colour-in pyjamas come in 3 age ranges (4-5, 5-6, 6-7) so are ideal for the whole family!

6. Create a friend!

Artie, the doodle bear, is a sweet little friend to colour-in and cuddle! Artie Bear’s doodle grid lets kids (and adults!) experiment with colour, shapes, and patterns to give this bear a unique design every time. Why not take him along on a Christmas adventure?

7. Come and See!

The 'Come and See' Advent box is packed full of resources for the whole family. With hot chocolate, an Advent candle, marshmallows, a devotional and more. This all-in-one kit contains everything you need for fun all-age Advent activities.

8. Count-down!

This 25-door Advent calendar for children aged 3-7 years old is linked with God's Big Promises Bible Storybook. Amplified by an Advent devotional, you'll feel encouraged to join together as a family as you countdown to Christmas. Featuring 25 short, simple family devotions, ideal for families with young children.

9. Dip-In!

These Devotional Dippers are a great way to get your whole family looking at the Bible together throughout Advent. Each stick includes a name of Jesus with a Bible reference, questions to prompt discussion and a prayer point.

Easy to add into the chaos of each day, simply pick a dipper and enjoy the devotional together. Ideal for children aged 7+ but can be easily adapted for younger children.

10. Celebrate Every Day!

Sally Lloyd-Jones' 'The Jesus Storybook Bible Advent Activity Book' offers a fun, family-friendly activity for every day of Advent. Enjoy a mix of craft, games, songs, recipes and more to take you all the way to Christmas day. Easily adapted for different ages, you're sure to find something fun for every member of the family, every day!
