Krish: It's lovely to meet you. My wife particularly is very excited that I'm speaking to you. She's a huge fan of Redeeming Love the book. How are you feeling with this new movie about to hit the screen?
Francine: Yeah, I'm, I'm really pleased that the movie even took 30 years in the making, you know, to find the right group to do it. I was able to write that screenplay, and then work with DJ Caruso. So so it's really the movie I hoped it would be that
Krish: They often say great writers, great readers, are there things that you enjoy reading any other Christian authors in particular that you find encouraging and inspiring?
Francine: Oh, quite a few. The one that pops into my mind immediately. Well, two of them actually are Randy Alcorn and Frank Peretti. I mean, Frank Peretti was one I'm reading, This Present Darkness.
Krish: I remember that!
Francine: Oh, yeah. I thought, oh, you know, Christian fiction can have real power to it and presenting the gospel and showing you who God is. I thought Christian fiction can have real power to it in presenting the gospel and showing you who God is. So I think he had a great impact on many people. Angela Elwell Hunt is another favourite. I mean, there's so many.
Krish: You've written a lot of books. And for some people, this will be their gateway to the rest of your works. If someone loved redeeming love, what should they read of yours next?
Francine: Oh, my goodness, I would say Bridge to Haven, which is a similar story really about the 50s. And then and Hollywood and star-making stars, that kind of thing. My writing is really, I asked a question, I'm dealing with something in my own faith block. And I don't have the answer. And I use the writing, the different characters are voicing, different points of view about that question, and there's one struggling Christian. And that's basically me. So each book is then kind of a quest to find God's perspective. So The Atonement Childdeals with abortion and I had an abortion in my college years. So that was dealing with that whole issue. And The Shofar Blewhas to do with how do you build a church and how we've kind of gotten off track and in some of the ways that we're building churches, we tend to think of it as a building and not a relationship.
Krish: Yes.
Francine: So there are quite a number of things to choose from.
