What happens when the current passion for baking meets the Bible? The Great Christian Bake-Off with the fantastic Bake Through the Bible books!
The UK has reignited a baking fever not seen since the 1940s. A time where strict rationing forced the creative hand of many-a-baker. This burgeoning creativity for cooking, and passion with patisserie, has brought a sphere of un-ironic joy to the lives of many of us. A respite from battering news cycles and oh-so-meta comedies have left viewers feeling cold. The GBBO's escape to the tent has allowed millions of us tinker with treats, creating new communities and passions for cake across the UK.
Put simply, we love to bake!
I for one can say that the amount of home-baked goods being consumed has grown proportionally to my waistline: both steadily and unashamedly.
With homes becoming more like the jolly kitchens of Downtown Abbey, the opportunity to use baking for storytelling have risen. The Bake Through the Bible Book, of which there is also a Christmas edition, have combined a recipe and the Bible story into a new creation.
With every recipe being paired with a Bible story, the books are able to sink into the imaginations and memories of kids. Not only seeing tokens of each story before them, but also baking treats that will remind them of the story. The Bake Through the Bible books provide a valuable chance to spend quality time with children, with the added bonus of food at the end.
So, as the Great British Bake Off continues, but keeps the same charming nostalgia bespoke to British public, now is the perfect time to don aprons and oven gloves. Time to have your own Bible Bake-Off.
Here at Eden, we’ve already has some delicious Lemon and White Chocolate Cake, as well as frog-shaped Gingerbread biscuits, and a Banana Loaf. And that was just for the first week!
