How do you teach kids about Easter?
I suppose you could convince children to give up vegetables for lent, but beyond that, you're fighting a losing battle. Giving up the things we love for lent is how adults focus and think about what Easter means. But that's not how children work.
If I'm being honest, that's not how I work either. But I try.
Instead, stories are the way to a child's heart.
Easter stories come in a vast range of ages and styles. Some rhyme, some have puzzles. Others show how Easter is anything but boring. Each of these books, as well as uniquely telling the story of Easter, are a pure delight to read.
We adore them all and we think your children will as well.
On every page of this easter story for kids are different animals. Some are hidden in the background. Others are waiting to be found. Each one is full of life and character. Alongside the elegant illustrations by Dani Padron and text from award-winning author Alexa Tewkesbury, the challenge to spot the animals helps make this an engaging Easter read for ages 3-5.
Stories about Jesus at Easter usually focus on the events leading up to Jesus' death and resurrection. But, this one is different. The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross places the Easter story in the context of God's bigger plan. It opens with the creation and the story of the Garden of Eden - setting the scene for why the Cross is super important.
By putting the two stories together, The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross offers a fuller picture of what Easter means and why we celebrate it.
Children love to make things their own. Whether that's colouring-in, solving puzzles or answering questions - kids are always thinking and figuring out.
These small books are made to help that side of young readers. With the challenge of filling in the blanks of the story with the right stickers, this Mini Bible Sticker Book is a genuinely engaging Easter gift. Perfect for Sunday Schools and prizegiving. It's a welcome and affordable addition to the wide range of Easter stories for kids.
The Easter Story by Lios Rock is part of My Very First Bible Stories published to high acclaim and endearingly popular ever since.
This edition, with its bright illustrations and a simple retelling of Jesus and the first Easter, is ideal for introducing preschool children to the essential Bible story.
Economically priced, this small and colourful children's Bible storybook is an ideal gift or give-away for prize-givings, outreach and mission in the Lent and Easter period. This little (5" x 4") Easter book is ideal for grown-ups to read aloud to their children and as a starter book for children to begin reading Bible stories for themselves.
"This is the most important story ever told. Although it's very sad at times it's also the happiest story. That's because it's true!"
Simply told, but not just simple. The Easter Story by J.John not only tells the story of Easter, but he also offers a way for young readers to understand why Easter is important. Why we say Easter is a story of good news.
How does Easter make you feel? How did the disciples feel?
A Very Happy Easter takes a different look at the story of Easter. It explores the emotions we feel and teaches children how to express them. When Jesus is taken, the disciples feel sad and so do we. When He comes back to life, the disciples are happy and young readers are encouraged to show happiness too.
Encouraging children to copy the emotions throughout, this fun and interactive book helps young readers use their eyes and their heart in reading the story of Easter.
Whilst many of these books are elegantly made, lovingly drawn and thoughtfully written, in the hands of a toddler they are soon reduced to shreds...literally. For very young children, board books are a great way forward. They can take a bashing and still keep on telling their story.
These Easter stories offer a new spin on board books. Filled with peek-through pages that encourage independent investigation and a cut-out handle for easy carrying, The Easter Story from Make Believe Ideas is perfect as a child's first Easter book.
Part of a whole series of books exploring faith and Christianity with a pair of loveable polar bears, God Gave Us Easter is a heartfelt story of the length God will go to be close to us.
Leaving with the feeling of being loved, God Gave Us Easter is simple, sweet and soothing. Perfect for cosy bedtime reading.
