Theology for Little People with J.John

Theology for Little People J John

When is too young for theology?

Speaker, evangelist, minister, writer, and social activist J.John has spent a lifetime finding new ways to share the same message. From books to talks to conversations to courses, J.John uses any tool that will help him share the good news of Christianity. After years reaching adults and teens with deep ideas of theology presented with clarity and grace, the much-adored Canon took a turn into a new direction; writing books of theology for children.

J John

Knowing God and The Easter Story are more than simply-presented Bible stories. On the surface they may seem nothing more than what is expected of a children's Bible book - what with the bold text, immensely cheerful images, and charming design - but look beyond the cover and you’ll find a lot more.

In Knowing God J.John explores who God is, and what it means to know Him. This includes what God does - such as making and looking after all the ‘enormous bits’ of creation like galaxies as much as the little things like bugs and rain - as well as how we can talk to Him, read about Him, and spend all our lives with Him. Big topics that important, big-bearded thinkers have spent years thinking long and hard about are explored with curiosity, simplicity, and insight. Knowing God is a book all about how God can speak to people, and why that is so great.

Knowing God

And then, after writing Knowing God, J.John took the story to it’s very next step; knowing Jesus.

The Easter Story is, as the title tellingly states, is the story of Easter, of Jesus, of His death, resurrection, and of why it all had to happen in the first place.

‘The most important story ever told,’ Jesus’ journey to the cross is a sad one and a happy one at the same time, and J John never shields children from either. He talks about why it is sad, about the crowds getting angry at Jesus, about Jesus being sentenced to death, and about all his friends feeling sad because of it. He doesn’t pretend that it was all chirpy, and that it’s ok to be sad at times - but the story certainly doesn’t end there. Because The Easter Story shows why Jesus died, the happiness and good news of the story is all the more abundant. When Jesus comes back to life, it is undeniably joyous. It is good news understood.

The Easter Story

So, if ever you think children may be too young to understand something about God, you can turn to J John to see that no one is too young for God, too young to understand why Jesus came, and too young for theology.

Both Knowing God and The Easter Story are avaliable to order today, as well as a whole range of other resources from Canon J.John, including talks, DVDs, books, and devotionals.
