The church is in a crisis today. There appears to be only the intellectual understanding of the biblical teaching of stewardship and how this doctrine forms the bedrock of God's remnant church, yet its application in our lives remains a pipe dream. For the avoidance of doubt, the principle of stewardship in this book will be considered from the Tithes and Offerings, and self empowerment perspective with a strong bias towards an agriculture based economy upon which the subject of stewardship finds footing contextually in the bible.

So controversial is the stewardship subject, especially the tithes and offerings aspect, that many in the Christian church, including the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, are beginning to question its theological basis and whether it is still relevant today. There seems to be a challenge for most believers to part with "their" resources for the cause of God. A reading of most churches' financial records reveals a sad reality between the tithes and Offerings matrix.

The joy of it all is that if ever there is a subject that should excite any believer, it is that of stewardship considering the responsibility given to humanity at creation in cooperation with divinity.
