Die individuellen, die universalen und die kosmischen Dimensionen der Eschatologie werden vor ihrem traditions- und religionsgeschichtlichen Hintergrund so entfaltet, dass ihre theologische Bedeutung erhellt wird. The authors of the contributions in this volume interpret statements of the New Testament concerning the final things as opposed to all things provisional in historical, exegetical, and hermeneutical investigations. The various eschatological ideas elucidate at the same time basic theological decisions. In all these texts, the relationship between eschatological ideas and the Christ-event is decisive. The understanding of time and history with regard to its end, the question of the resurrection and judgment, the final reconciliation and divine community as well as the intense contemporary eschatological existence are related issues. The individual, the universal, and the cosmic dimensions of eschatology are developed in such a way that their theological significance is illuminated in the light of their tradition-historical and religio-historical background.
