For Church leaders and deeper readers

This commentary is a deft examination of a little-read book of the Bible

Answers to big questions are explores in this clear commentary

Why does a righteous and sovereign God tolerate wrongdoing?

How are the divine attributes reconciled with the triumph of the godless?

Why do the wicked prosper and rule over the righteous?

Why does God raise up 'ruthless and impetuous' nations to execute judgement on his own people?

These are some of the questions that perplexed Habakkuk, challenged his faith and caused him to question God's government of the world. And these are some of the questions that still perplex Christians today. Tim Shenton helpfully addresses these points in a clear and substantial exposition of the text of Habakkuk.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

A well-written easy to understand commentary on the book of Habbakuk. Interesting historical background sets the scene, giving us a useful picture of the times in which Habbakuk lived. The description we have of Habbakuk is of a sensitive, deep-thinking man with many questions and doubts as he struggles with the evil he sees in society. He has dialogue between himself and God and on behalf of Israel concerning the problems of evil. He proclaimed clearly that man is a morally responsible being who will one day give account of himself before a Holy God. God has no favourites. Habbakuk’s faith grows from doubt to the heights of trust. Guest reviewer - Janet Lee, Marlborough
