Two vicars, their marriage in tatters with wounds reaching far back into the past, set out on a journey to find healing and restoration. Their route will take them from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic, but will it help them find their way home?

Along the 320-mile route across rural France, burdened by backpacks and blisters, Kim and Penelope stumble across fresh truths, some ordinary, others extraordinary. But will they be defeated by the road ahead or triumph over the pain of the past? Is there a chance they'll find themselves in France and walk back to happiness?

In this simple but enchanting book, part travelogue and part pilgrimage, Penelope invites you to walk with her and her husband on their epic journey as they encounter new faces and new experiences, and reconnect with each other and with God. Every step of the way, you'll discover more about yourself and what's really important to you.

Honesty and humour, vulnerability and grace all form part of this life-affirming story of a trek across southern France, with its highs - ice cream and glorious vistas and the kindness of strangers - and its lows - lumpy beds, mud, mosquitoes and blisters. A pilgrimage both on the ground and of the heart, and eminently readable.

I am not a quick reader so it has taken me a while to read this book, but I have enjoyed every moment. Penelope speaks with honesty and vulnerability about her adventure with husband Kim across France. This book it written in the style of a journal, so it is very easy to pick up and put down. I love the descriptions of the different cafes, B'n'B, walking through different weather and their search for ice cream. Thank you. I will be recommending this book to friends to read. A good book to take on Holiday.

I really enjoyed this book and felt as if I was walking along side Penelope and her husband Kim. I tend to only read books related to the Bible, so it made a real change for me to read something like this, and I have realised that I need to change the type of things that I read every now and than. Some chapters I read outdoors when the weather was good and it made me feel as if I was in France. This book is such an easy and relaxing read, which is just what we need in our lives at the moment with all that is going on in our world. The bits with French quotes in them made me think of the time that I was studying A Level French, and I tried to work out what the French was before reading what the actual quote was about. I loved the Bible quotes throughout, especially Hebrews 13:2, because I had a long discussion about this quote with my Bible study group before lockdown began. I have always wanted to do a long walk or pilgrimage, and this book made me want to do this one day even more. I didn't want the book to end, which is always a good sign that you’re enjoying something. I can assure you that it will be difficult to put this book down once you start to read it because you fully immerse yourself in the journey with Penelope and Kim. Give it a try. It's great!
