God is in control. Cancer isn't. If he chooses to, God still might intervene. But even if he doesn't...you are safe. And you will never be alone. Taylor was an energetic nine year old when doctors traced a nagging pain in his leg to a huge tumour hidden in his pelvis. Thus began a journey of anguish, hope, anger, joy, grief, and ultimately life. When Brian learns that the cancer has spread, and watches his son endure the protracted agony, he wrestles with God, asking loud angry questions. Yet, despite the pain Taylor's enthusiasm for life continues. His wit, zeal and faith grow stronger, and father and son draw strength from one another as they embark upon the journey which took Taylor safely home. This is a wonderfully uplifting book.

I would like to splurge this title over every category to get maximum publicity for it. Every one of us has met, or will in the future meet with death related to cancer; so often an avoided subject. As a child the word cancer was not spoken till after my father died, let alone the word death and yet it was inevitable. Thankfully so much has changed during the intervening years, attitudes, treatments and results, but still it happens: cancer can result in early death. Such a sad subject and yet..... This is the very personal story of Taylor and his Dad, Brian. In no way does that detract from the suffering of his mother Debbie or Taylor’s brothers whose lives were inevitably overshadowed while Taylor had the limelight. Brian tells the story with heartbreaking detail and clarity, but what comes through is the story of an effervescent, charismatic young boy growing towards adulthood with every intention of making the most of every minute of wonderful life and believing implicitly in God’s love and guiding hand and the power of prayer. Taylor had no illusions, he knew God might not choose to heal him, but that did nothing to dim his faith or his joy in life while it lasted. There is so much to learn and enjoy in this story before weeping again. Obviously everyone who came into contact with Taylor loved him: I would have been so honoured to have met him, indeed I feel as though I have.
