Right from the first page I found that the words were itching to be read out loud. There is every opportunity for plenty of expression and the chance to make the stories really memorable for a young child. The illustrations are an important part of the page layouts as the words weave between the images which are clear and colourful. Eleven stories from the Old Testament and eight from the New, means that many stories have been left out, but the gist of the Bible is here and these first stories makes an excellent introduction to the Bible, and hopefully a desire to know about the other stories there are. I would love there to be a ‘Second Book of Bible Stories’ for the same age group or slightly older, this one is so good. A few stories at a time are not so daunting to some families as many more in one volume can be.
