This is the second book in the series about a little Amish girl growing up on a farm in Pennsylvania. An English child reading it would discover it is set in a world that is very different to their own, to the extent that they would either decide it was incomprehensable or would be full of questions about the lifestyle they had read about. For this reason, I would suggest that the book could be used as a resource in a non-American setting by a homeschooler who wanted children to learn about a completely different lifestyle that some people still follow in 21st century America. The book is aimed at 8-12 year olds, and is likely to appeal to girls. There is only one place in which God is talked about, although the Amish are God-fearing people. The authors have a lot of personal experience of this way of life so the book is full of events and customs which I am sure are accurate.
