    Readers who have dived into ‘spiritual reading’ from the last few centuries might be forgiven for thinking that spirituality is a fearfully complicated business. Guides to ‘mental prayer’ appear forbidding and uncompromising, requiring at least a disciplined monastic life to be followed. Not so the delightful counsel of Brother Lawrence. His approach to God while it has it’s head and heart in heaven definitely has it’s feet firmly planted on the ground. This is just the sort of approach for our distracted times with our crowded diaries and bleeping phones – finding God in the practical, ordinary activities of every day. A kind of contemplation on the move. This is a good new edition with a helpful foreword and introduction – just right for the inside pocket on the train!
