    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This is the third anthology from Iona edited by Neil Paynter – following This is the Day and Gathered and Scattered. Like them it provides four months of readings and prayers on the thirty-one different themes which flavour worship of the Iona Community each month, working through from hospitality and welcome, via pilgrimage, sexuality, commitment and ends with youth. There are many contributors from the well-known, like Kathy Galloway and John Bell to individuals and volunteers. Some of the contributions are very short – most are 2 or 3 pages, though the longest is about 10 pages. This fact might put some off from using this book as a 'daily reader”' With the other 2 volumes, this book would make a year’s worth of daily readings. The end-piece blessing from the Iona Abbey Worship Book perhaps sums this book and its purpose up best: May God write a message upon your heart, Bless and direct you, Then send you out – A living letter of the Word.
