What is biblical revival? Many Christians associate revival with special meetings that used to take place once or twice a year. Guest preachers and singers would be brought in, and special evening services were designed to encourage believers to get closer to the Lord and to convince unbelievers to accept him as their Saviour.

But that is not revival. Biblical revival is about God bringing his people back to spiritual vitality. Only Christians can be revived because only they have spiritual life, having been regenerated by the Spirit of God on the basis of the redeeming work of Christ.

Learn what the Bible teaches about revival, and be inspired to pray that, even in our day, God will make streams flow in the desert!

Roger Ellsworth is currently the pastor of Parkview Baptist Church, Jackson, Tennessee He has authored over thirty books.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

The call for revival is one that is frequently heard in Christian circles, but what is really meant by revival? In this excellent book Roger Ellsworth spends a short amount of time identifying the difference between revival and conversion, and the danger that they become confused with each other. The vast majority of the book draws from revivals that occurred in the Old Testament and studies two of these in greater detail. He looks at the situation prior to the revival, the approach adopted by the leaders and the response by the people. He uses these examples to enable us to learn lessons when we call for a revival today. But in so doing he gives us a serious challenge drawn from Psalm 90. Do we really want a revival? Also do we fervently desire that God’s beauty should be displayed in our lives? An excellent and challenging book to read and then to act on.
