Believing that repetition indicates emphasis, Roger Ellsworth examines occasions in the Bible in which God the Father or God the Son repeated someone?s name. He asserts that these instances were meant to make certain truths ?dance? before our eyes. In an increasingly difficult and challenging world, these truths will thrill, comfort and guide all those who genuinely embrace them.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This thin volume is based on a very interesting premise. The author believes that repetition of a word in the Bible gives it emphasis. In particular, if God the Father, or Jesus, calls someone by name, and repeats that name, it is very significant. There are only seven instances in the Bible when God addresses an individual by repeating his or her name. One example is 'Moses, Moses' in the book of Exodus, when Moses encounters God at the burning bush. So, each chapter looks at one of those occasions. Two additional chapters consider Jesus' lament over Jerusalem when he repeats the name of the city, and Jesus' cry from the Cross 'Eli, Eli.' I found each reflection helpful and heart warming. This is a book that will encourage you to hear from the Lord for yourself.
