The Stations of the Cross is a devotional walk, allowing Christians to follow Christ's footsteps on his journey through Jerusalem, from condemnation by Pontius Pilate to being laid in the tomb following His death on the Cross.

Each Station is a place of significance on that Journey, and allows Christians to pause and reflect on the events of the first Good Friday.

Nicholas King has based his reflections her on his own translation of the New Testament.

Excellent book. Very good to have scripture passages plus comments to aid meditation.

Forming a trilogy with his The Rosary and Prayers for Catholics this guide to ‘Stations’ is welcome for its fresh look at an old but always relevant devotion. As with the Rosary, King begins with a Bible passage which refers to the subject of each station. The non-Biblical stations are a problem solved by commentary, and the inclusion of a relevant passage on one of the themes of the station. Meditating on Jesus’ first fall under the weight of the cross for example, ‘not described...in any of the scripture accounts, his disciples frequently do ‘fall’ and the ‘fall’ of Judas is cited from St Mark to make the point.
