Continuing the story of Nellie Mae and her love for Caleb Yoder, we are taken further into the conflicts arising from a ‘Revival’ among the Amish people, splitting the communities into three factions and tearing families asunder, Nellie Mae and Caleb are caught up in the acrimony between some of the people, notably Caleb’s father and the Fisher family who have chosen to join the New Order families. Other strands of the story weave onward, some to surprising ends, some not yet resolved and we have to wait for the next volume. I thoroughly enjoy reading Beverly Lewis’s Amish novels, she writes with a knowledge of the community drawn from her own Mothers Plain family background. If you can, read first The Parting Book One of this series.
