The Preacher's Daughter is the first in a captivating new series, ANNIE'S PEOPLE, and introduces an Amish community in Paradise, Pennsylvania--a heavenly-sounding place, but one that has seen its share of heartache and mystery. A moving story of friendship, secrets, and love.

Annie Zook, the only daughter of an Old Order Amish preacher, wants to please her parents and her Plain community, but a hidden passion stands in the way. Creating art is strictly forbidden by Annie’s church district. Her secret has already cost her the affection of handsome Rudy Esh. She must choose between her art and the People the only life she knows.

Louisa Stratford, Annie's longtime pen pal, is a modern Denverite who shares Annie's love of art. When Louisa escapes her own problems to go to Paradise for a taste of the simple life, will she nudge Annie closer to all she has known and loved....or tempt Annie to pursue her own dreams?

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

I cannot get enough of Beverly Lewis’s Amish stories and was so glad of the opportunity to read this – finishing in one go at 11.30pm! The author’s Mother came from a ‘Plain’ family so her stories reflect her accurate knowledge of her subject while weaving tales of romance and in this book a darker deed that still rears its ugly head many years after the event. Running alongside this is the arrival of Annie’s long-term ‘Englisher’ pen friend, Louise, who comes to stay after the breakdown of her engagement and marriage plans. This weaves together the lives outside the Amish community with those within, showing up once more the stresses and strains of keeping faithful to the Ordnung, the rule book of the Amish people. Now for Book 2!
