Lady Of Milkweed Manor is a novel that presents fascinating details about the lives of women in Regency England. Julie Klassen writes a moving romantic drama about the beauty of sacrificial love and the redemption of past failings.

Charlotte Lamb is a vicar'’s daughter who hides herself away in London's forbidding Milkweed Manor,” that is a place of lore, mystery, old secrets and new birth. But even Charlotte must pay a high price for her fall. Whilst in the manor, Charlotte comes face to face with a suitor from her past--a man who now hides secrets of his own.

With the help and love of God, both are determined to protect those they love. But neither can imagine the depth of sacrifice that will be required.

Lady of Milkweed Manor is a historical novel based in South East England in the 19th Century, looking at the story of Charlotte, a vicar's daughter. Charlotte has fallen pregnant and therefore fallen from grace from her family and is sent away from home. An easy and delightful story that does not romanticise the problem the young girl faced. It does not aim to preach at the reader, but reveals a little of the social history and conditions of the time when it was totally unacceptable to be pregnant if you were not married; and yet there were people and doctors who were moved to help the plight of these unmarried mothers. The characters were likeable and ordinary - no outstanding saints among them - with questions, doubts and heartaches that often go unanswered. A good book for a holiday or a cold damp weekend!
