    A new romantic novel by prolific American author Judith Miller will give pleasure to her many keen fans. This one is set in East Amana, Iowa in 1892, and is one of several novels she has placed in that community. She clearly knows its customs and rules. The story revolves around two young women, who forge a deep friendship. One of them, Karlina, has grown up in the community. The other, Dovie, visits it, searching for the truth about her late mother, who used to live there. She eventually finds that truth, and both young women fall in love. Chapters alternate between the two of them, so we read of their experiences in turn. It makes for easy, pleasurable reading, with a few twists and turns along the way.
