    The Good Book Stall

This is the second book that I have read by Julie Lessnab and I have to say I enjoyed her work again. Dare to Love Again is the second novel from The Heart of San Francisco series. Set in San Francisco in 1903 it is a love story between the rich Allison McClare who has been burned by love numerous times and Nick Barone a jaded cop who has been burned by the upper class. McClare is a spunky, sassy, independent and determined young lady who wants to get on in life and forget about men and become the best school teacher she possibly can be at the school her affluent friends and family have founded and support in the wild and rundown Barbary Coast area of Frisco, where Barone is a diligent, competent and cranky detective who lives in the house next door to the school where he offers support and protection for his supervisor's aunt; Miss Penny who runs a children's home for girls. Barone knows more than most that the Barbary Coast is no place for women after dark, let alone rich ones, and instantly Barone takes a dislike for the naive McClare and this is exaggerated when Barone is manipulated in to working at the school and teaching this socialite self defence. It is lovely to watch how their relationship unfolds and I enjoyed this novel and I hope you do too.
