"There are times when life is a cursor on a blank page, blinking in a rhythm a bit like an electronic heartbeat, tapping out a question in three little words. What Comes Next? Time and space and life wait for an answer. A blank page is an ocean of possibilities..."

Firefly Island is the story of, Mallory Hale, a US civil servant who takes a leap of faith and enters a new adventurous life after a whirlwind romance with Daniel. Soon married they move from tame, stable Washington D.C. to Firefly Island an isolated piece of rock in Moses Lake, Texas.

On the surface, Moses Lake is a typical small town full of charm and kindness. But as Mallory makes new friends and acclimatise to her new way of life, she begins to find that the town is full of all sorts of interesting people… and problems.

Getting more and more into her new life, she starts a blog called, ‘The Frontier Woman’. Here she shares her stories with friends and family back home. The blog becomes a soap-box for her to give a voice to the voiceless. She holds nothing back including her struggles and failures as she adapts to marriage, motherhood (she also gained a step-son), a new town, a new job and a whole new way of life all at once.

At thirty-four, US congress civil servant, Mallory Hale, is about to embark on an adventure completely off the map. After a whirlwind romance, she is hopelessly in love with two men - fortunately, they're related! Daniel Everson and his little boy, Nick, are a package deal, and Mallory suddenly can't imagine her future without them.

Mallory couldn't be more shocked when Daniel asks her to marry him, move to Texas, and form a family with him and motherless Nick. The idea is both thrilling and terrifying. Taking a leap of faith, she begins a sweet, mishap-filled journey into ranch living, Moses Lake society, and a marriage that at times reminds her of the mail-order-bride stories.

But despite the wild adventure of her new life, she discovers secrets and questions beneath her rosy new life. Can she find answers on Firefly Island, a little chunk of property just off the lake's shore, where mysterious lights glisten at night?
