Love epic fantasy sagas?
The Bone House continues the sweeping, gripping Bright Empire series
Mixing treasure hunt and multiverses, this is a boundless story of danger and imagination
The Bone House is the thrilling sequel to Stephen Lawhead’s inter-dimensional adventure, ‘The Skin Map’.
Kit Livingstone, the Ley Line traveler, is chasing after the skin map – the coded symbols tattooed on a 17th century explorer that charts the hidden dimensions of the multi-universe. This impossible task he inherited from his great-grandfather, Cosimo, has now turned dangerous thanks to the ruthless Burley Men, who are hunting for the same prize.
Scattered across the time and space, Kit must navigate the winding alleyways of Egyptian sphinxes, master the market streets of Prague and make a pilgrimage to where universes collide across the Stone Age landscape. Piecing together the ruminants of the map become Kit’s obsession, and with the help of his friends he must retraces his steps to find his girlfriend lost in the fabric of time itself.
Stephen R. Lawhead, acclaimed author of several fantasy series, masterfully criss-crosses many different fiction genres – adventure, ancient history, sci-fi, mystery and philosophy – crafting a page-turning quest that’s out of this world. “The Bright Empires Series continues in ‘The Bone House’ where the young explorer, Kit Livingstone, must navigate the multi-dimensional universe to recover the ruminants of the elusive Skin Map and rescue his lost girlfriend.”
“This exciting series blends ancient history with Einstein’s theory of relativity. Join Kit as he battles the dry heat of Ancient Egypt, navigates Restoration England, explores the markets of Prague and journeys the Stone Age countryside to stitch together the secrets of the universe.”
“Stephen Lawhead’s fan base compares this series to C.S Lewis directed by Steven Spielberg – like an intergalactic Narnia. But best of all, through philosophical musings and gripping action, Stephen cleverly lays a positive foundation for the Christian faith that’s both compelling and revelatory.”
Kit Livingstone met his great-grandfather Cosimo in a rainy alley in London where he discovered the truth about alternate realities.
Now he's on the run - and on a quest - trying to understand the impossible mission he inherited from Cosimo: to restore a map that charts the hidden dimensions of the multiverse. Survival depends on staying one step ahead of the savage Burley Men.
The key is the Skin Map - but where it leads and what it means, Kit has no idea. The pieces have been scattered throughout this universe and beyond.
Mina, from her outpost in seventeenth-century Prague, is quickly gaining both the experience and the means to succeed in the quest. Yet so are those with evil intent who, from the shadows, are manipulating great minds of history for their own malign purposes.
Those who know how to use the ley lines have left their own world behind to travel across time and space - down avenues of Egyptian sphinxes, to an Etruscan tufa tomb, into a Bohemian coffee shop, and across a Stone Age landscape where universes collide - in this, the second quest to unlock the mystery of The Bone House.
The Bright Empires series - from acclaimed author Stephen R. Lawhead - is a unique blend of epic treasure hunt, ancient history, alternate realities, cutting-edge physics, philosophy, and mystery. The result is a page-turning, adventure like no other.
