    I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is well-written and well-crafted with a plot that moves with pace thanks to the short chapters and the mix of first and third person narrative. The characters are intimately drawn and I felt empathy and real liking for the hero and his co-workers. The sub-plots of relationships and the histories of the various characters does not detract from the main plot rather it adds depth and colour. I stayed reading until the early hours of the morning in order to finish it! I will certainly be looking for more books by this author.

    This, the second in the Patrick Bowers files, is even better than the first (The Pawn). Gripping, involving, well-plotted and paced and with an excellent 'cast' of characters I'd happily recommend this to anyone who loves thrillers, suspense novels or the more complex mystery novels. Can't wait for the next one. Simply outstanding.
