Sue Atkinson shares her own experiences of battling with low self esteem, brought about by childhood abuse and work stress, and provides practical exercises, such as writing a personal journal, and quotes to acknowledge the difficulty of the task while inspiring the reader to change.

The book is easy to read and meant to be one to dip into as and where it is relevant to you. There are lots of quotes and diagrams to help illustrate the points the author wants to make.

By drawing on her personal experiences the book is easier to read than a medical type text book, the only danger is one can get drawn into Sue Atkinson's own problems and issues and find yourself adding them to your own.
