      Product Description

The story of exhibitionism goes back as far as the human race has had a culture of modesty, for some, as long ago as Adam and Eve chose to cover up in the Garden of Eden. As ideas of civility developed with time, stripping off in public came to be seen as increasingly voyeuristic, depraved, and was often associated with madness. Exhibitionism or

      Exhibitionism

The pathology, psychology and history of "being seen" here is well and uniquely explored. This is a weighty historic survey of the unseen being celebrated, rooting the Christian worldview in the inevitability of the Garden of Eden. Representation, power and vulnerability are well researched with exaggerated emotional and theatrical behaviours signposted.

To serve this further, a greater engagement with the theology of embodiment, flesh and nakedness would have been welcome. More on this could have been written, to ruminate as to the causes, implications and remedies for such behaviours.

The exploration of the growing exhibitionist trait in our cultural milieu as well as madness or extravagance were well documented but little offered around a way forward.
