Get the kind of makeover that will transform your life!

Bestselling author and life coach Katie Brazelton takes you on a deeply personal forty-day journey of developing your character. Discover how to close the gap between understanding God’s purpose for your life and carrying it out as you put an end to well-worn patterns of defeat, woundedness, insecurity, unworthiness, and self-centeredness.

Teaming up with coauthor Shelley Leith, who is a highly sought-after speaker on strengthening marriages and family, Brazelton focuses on eight character traits essential to living a purpose-filled life: humility, confidence, courage, self-control, patience, contentment, generosity, and perseverance.

Step-by-step you’ll experience a complete character makeover—and become the best “you” God intended you to be.

Ideal for small groups, women’s church ministry, and one-on-one study.

In a genre of workbooks with little content and books with a few fill in the blanks, Character Makeover is a balanced presentation of both. Based on the 40 days of purpose campaign out of Saddleback Church, Brazelton and Leith effectively blend explanation of and encouragement to pursue eight character traits (Humility, Confidence, Courage, Self-Control, Patience, Contentment, Generosity, Perseverance) with behavior oriented action sheets. The book is clear and consistent in its format. The electronic component (email and audio download) will be a bonus to the more internet savvy; much like those currently reading this online. The book does not deemphasize the work involved in pursuing these eight traits, but spends time focusing on changing one?s lifestyle so that these traits become a natural part of who a woman is as a believer. The book?s target group is women, yet I found encouragement and challenge while reading it. It is ironic that perseverance is the last of the character trait mentioned, since it takes a great deal of perseverance to complete the book. Even though many readers will go through this book on their own, I recommend that the book be read and completed with another person if not in a small group. Each section of the book is divided into days of completion. The reader is asked to complete exercises for each character trait in five days; with two days off. There is an option to extend the reading and workbook to seven, but that is all the flexibility offered in the book. There were exercises that I needed an extra day to really digest and make it real. The trap one can fall into by going it alone is the need to finish each day in a day. Not to do so could result in some frustration. A group setting can help alleviate that frustration. If the reader is not much of a journal writer, some of the exercises may be a bit tedious. However, perseverance will pay off. I highly recommend Appendix B: ?Scripture Rich Prayer?, when one?s perseverance seems to slide. I am pleased to recommend Character Makeover by Katie Brazelton and Shelley Leith.
