Too often Christians carry a lot of guilt and baggage when it comes to their relationship with God. The problem is that so many of us believe unbiblical, damaging things about how critical God is and how fed up he must be with us. But many of the things we think Jesus would say to us--things like "I can't believe you call yourself a Christian," "If you really loved me, you'd try harder," and "I'm so disappointed in you"--are things he never said. The solution, says Will Davis Jr., is to stop believing the lies and start believing the things Jesus did say. In 10 Things Jesus Never Said, Davis unmasks commonly believed myths about our relationship with God and shows readers how to replace this pervasive theology of failure with the truth of how Jesus really feels about them. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter help small groups or individuals apply these truths to their current situations. Anyone who has ever felt that they didn't measure up to God's standards will love this freeing exploration of grace and forgiveness.

At it?s heart this is a book about radical grace, you know the kind of grace that forgives us regardless of any wrongs we may have done and not only forgives us, but forgives us unconditionally ? the kind of faith and forgiveness that, as this book so adequately points out, is only paid lip service to in most churches and most believers lives and yet is a foundational measure if we take Matthew 11:28 to heart and believe what it says. This is a really well written book, heartrendingly serious and yet wonderfully lighthearted and above all an honest book that weaves together difficult questions and idea?s with real life experiences and understanding and a solid dose of biblical exegesis to glue it together. I?d recommend it for anyone, yes really, anyone - and certainly for those who feel that touch of guilt and unworthiness, definitely for those that think they get to call others out, and for all church groups to use as a study guide ? each chapter has some great small group discussion questions ? it could really make a difference to how we see, act and react.
