‘Beautiful Battlefields’ takes an unflinching looks at the battles women face today and encourages readers to find the hidden beauty in the most unlikely of places.
With the wisdom of a Biblical scholar and the humility of a close friend, Bo Stern invites women to take the time to reflect on scripture. In the midst of our battlefields, whether it’s a shattering diagnosis, broken relationships, financial difficulties or emotional heart-ache there is always hope and transformation to be found. Speaking from raw and real experience, Bo uses her battlefield of her husband’s ALS diagnosis to flesh out Romans 5:3-5.
“...We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame...” – Romans 5:3-5.
Split into two section – the first helping you discover the beauty within your battlefield, the second offering strategies for growth whilst in the battle – this highly practical and thoroughly honest read is both encouraging and uplifting. Without belittling, over emphasizing our sweeping your struggles under the carpet, ‘Beautiful Battlefields’ will guide you towards transformational beauty in the transformational Person.
About the Author
Bo Stern is a mother of four and a wife to Steve. One of her greatest joys is recognizing the greater story in others’ lives and drawing out the glory and faithfulness of God from the trials of life. Long before her husband Steve was diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease), she dove deeply into the battles of Scripture to better understand the heart of God.
With a confidence born of this battle she and her family are still fighting, Bo wants women to understand that God can make us more beautiful than you’ve ever been because of the hard times we face. A teaching pastor at Westside Church in Bend, Oregon, she is also the author of a six-week Bible study called ‘The Joy Project’, currently used by churches, small groups, and the U.S. Army.
