After a string of plane journeys spanning over five countries, Lisa Bevere came home with killer jet lag. She collapsed on the couch next to her son, Arden, who was watching a movie. From watching this film Lisa was inspired to write this message.
Even after one hundred guesses, no-one could guess the film that sparked the idea for this book – it was ‘The Terminator’!
Confused? How could a Christian author get her idea for her book from a bad 80’s sci-fi (apologies to any fans). But give it some thought and all becomes clear.
Sarah Connor begins as a more than your average American women – working by day, dating by night, dreaming of a man to sweep her off her feet. Then a robot from the future is sent to assassinate her in cold blood. But a man from the future scoops her away in the nick of time only to explain she is the future leader of the Human Rebellion against robot murderers.
Overwhelmed by her earth-shattering day she yells, “I didn’t do anything!” (Here comes the inspiration for Lisa’s new book, ‘Girls with Swords’) The man replies “no, but you will!”
It’s this earth-shattering statement that knocked Lisa off her couch. In the midst of our weakness, our struggles and our insecurities is a future. We might not realise it now, you are caught up in a spiritual war. For Sarah Connor, it took a muscular Austrian to almost kill her to wake up to that reality!
In her book, ‘Girls with Swords’, Lisa wants to open your eyes to these earth-shattering realities:
• You are in an Epic Battle
• You have been Targeted so that You Become Powerless
• You have been given the Weapon to break those Chains: God’s Word
• You have a Calling on Your Life
• You can become a Hero of Faith!
In the first chapter, Lisa refers to C.S. Lewis and his startling book ‘The Screwtape Letters’, which document the demons discussion about disempowering women:
“All is summed up in the prayer which a young female human is said to have uttered recently: ‘Oh God, make me a normal twentieth-century girl!’ Thanks to our labours, this will mean increasingly, ‘Make me a minx, a moron, and a parasite.” – The Screwtape Letters, by C.S. Lewis.
Lisa doesn’t want our churches to full of minxes, morons or parasites. She wants women to lead, women to conquer, women to take their rightful place and be active in their calling. This motivational book is punchy, direct and totally life-changing. Read it and join the fight!
