Live Life Big or Stay in Bed
Written by two wives of men in church leadership positions, this book is aimed at dispelling the works and obligation-driven faith of many Christian women. It is based on their own experiences of spiritual apathy caused by feelings of inadequacy, constant comparing of themselves with others and overriding feelings that they could never do enough to please God, or those around them – feelings they discovered were shared by a large number of their peers. They show how the Bible teaches that everyone has something to contribute and that a person’s value and worth is found in who they are – a child of the King – rather than what they do. This leads to us developing a more accurate knowledge of God, taking responsibility for our own Spiritual growth and, in their case, has led to a mentoring scheme for other Christian women. An appendix gives more detail about how this works in practice. The title refers to our choice to live the abundant life Christ promised – to live life ‘big’ meeting head-on whatever He send us – rather than staying in bed and hiding from it. An enjoyable and encouraging read.
