'Touched By Greatness: Women In the Life of Moses' is a well crafted book by Dorothy Kelley Patterson. It explores the character of the various women who influenced Moses' life: the woman who carried him, the woman who nurtured him, the little girl who followed him and many others who you may not know about.

It was because of these women that Moses, a Hebrew baby, was brought up as the Prince of Egypt and developed the qualities that would turn him into one of the greatest leaders of all time.

In 'Touched by Greatness,' Dorothy K Patterson explains why all of these women were guided by God so that his plans for Moses could come to fruition. Readers of the book will discover the value of women in God's plans for humanity and how women can be guided by God to influence the world.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This is a neat little book, not too heavy to carry on a long journey. It's a fascinating insight into the sometimes unnamed women around the life of Moses. Dorothy cites the woman who bore him, the young girl who looked after him, and the foreigner who raised him as being the three guiding stars of his life. Jochebed, the mother who bore him was described as one of the unsung Biblical heroines, who had to let her son go so he could survive. Her story didn't end there, though - the Egyptian princess who adopted him also hired her to breastfeed her own son. Jochebed selflessly gave her precious son up to God and the world, and is an awesome role model for any modern mother, and before commenting on midwifery in Egyptian times, Dorothy points out Monica, the Mother of Augustine, as one praying fervently for her son's salvation, as, centuries later, did the mother of Hudson Taylor, who became a successful missionary to China. Dorothy also talks about Miriam, Moses' sister, Pharaoh’s daughter, Thermathis, and of course Zipporah, the woman he eventually married. I loved Dorothy's gentle style, and the way she talked about these unsung heroines without advocating feminism. This book is useful for mothers everywhere, and it will certainly inspire a mother I know.
