I found reading Church Linen, Vestments and Textiles by Margery Roberts an enjoyable and informative experience. I felt the five fold format that was employed through the first two sections which informed you of the use and description of each item, how the item is best stored, repaired, and how it should be worn, when coupled with the illustrations by Nicholas Elder allowed for a clear and easy understanding.
I also found the use of lists of different fabrics including descriptions of how they are made and the pros and cons of different cleaning styles and substance helpful and good knowledge to know given the varied style in the Church of England and particular in regards to wine stains in churches or Parishes that subscribe to Metousiosis and the steps to be taken in that situation.
With enjoyment I was also able to to learn the correct names for certain items which I have used on a regular basis during my volunteer work at the church and had previously been unnamed to me, these included the Credence Table and the Chalice Pall.
Overall I found that Church Linen Vestments and textiles a book that should be read, kept and referenced to, not just by clergy and laity but also by all involved in the church.
