Katie Clarke is a lawyer and seminar speaker, a specialist in debt, and she has helped many people with their debt problems. She stresses two main points loud and clear, the sooner you ask for help the easier it is to resolve difficulties, and secondly go for help where it is free, such as a Citizens Advice Bureau.
She asks you to answer honestly a series of questions to assess your risk of getting into debt, then suggests how to work out how you need to budget and what items are essential priorities. Much of this seems common sense, but she does not pass judgement, just tackles the various issues that arise and gives practical ways of tackling the scary situations that creep up on so many people who become frightened of the depths of debt they find themselves in. Packed with helpful advice this book could be a life-saver for many who have been brought to the brink of despair by the current credit crunch.
