Passages like Ephesians 4:11-13; I Corinthians 1:10 support the idea of the Pastor helping believers work from a common body of knowledge. What follows is a series of teaching notes designed to help the members of a church be familiar with a body of knowledge that will help them understand and live by biblical principles as a God glorifying church family.
As a Pastor who has been teaching, preaching, and striving to live by this material for 29 years (at the time of this writing), I make the following recommendations regarding the usage of the material:
1. Teach the material to the general body and review it regularly with them, especially the leaders.
- Teach the material to those who are candidates for active church membership.
Each teaching contains scripture references, review and discussion questions, and for the sake of alignment, there are answers to the review and discussion questions at the end of the book. This allows for group teaching, individual tutoring, and independent study of the material.
There is also a catechism of the key points of the teachings. The catechism (i.e., questions and answers) help the old and new members of the church say the same thing. It allows for efficient review of the material. It is my prayer that you would not only find the material interesting and helpful. I pray that you and your church family actually live by the principles found in the teachings.
