    Years ago I read a book “Desiring God”. It was very popular, but if my memory is correct it was about how we, failed humans, could improve our relationship with God. Brennan Manning turns that idea on its head, pointing out that God was there first. He first desired and still desires relationship and intimacy with us, me. He goes on to to challenge me to look at my relationship with ABBA, Father, and rather than work at my failings, seeking to be that bit better, instead to allow God to shape and mould me into the person He wants me to be.
