This book is about Christian truth and Christian hope. In particular, it takes the primary, foundational belief of Christianity - the resurrection - and asks how we can first make sense of it, and then live it for ourselves in the modern world.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This slim volume (only 77 pages long) is the sort of book that needs to be read slowly and meditatively. The publishers' blurb on the back cover says, 'Cally Hammond invites you to think and pray deeply about the primary foundational belief of Christianity - the resurrection of Jesus - and how you can live your life in the light of it.' In fact, the book moves on from an inspirational chapter on the resurrection to look at the other four 'glorious mysteries', which are Ascension, Pentecost, Falling asleep and Crowning. Apparently, these glorious mysteries are used in praying with the rosary - something I had not been aware of. But the author puts her own stamp on each one of them and they speak deeply to me, in spite of my different church background. I found something in each chapter which made me pause and think and helped me to root a heavenly, eternal reality in my everyday life on earth. There is a helpful prayer and a list of questions to think about at the end of each chapter. Finally, I felt the book was greatly enhanced by Monica Capoferri’s delightful illustrations.
