    A personal story of one who met Jesus, brought him to England as a young boy and provided his grave when Jesus was crucified. How much better could you get with true contact with our Lord and Saviour!

    More an inspirational work,than a study of Joseph of Arimathea. I was hoping for more historical material, such as Joseph's business, and possible links with Glastonbury. There is archaeological evidence of trade between Cornwall and the Mediterranean. Hardly mentioned in the book is the input of the Roman army in the Crucifixion and burial of Jesus, such as the Roman guard on the tomb and the debt of gratitude owed by the Roman Centurion whose servant Jesus healed. The Soldier witnessing the crucifixion said "surely this man was the Son of God". There is a reference in Acts to Peter being let out of prison by the Roman guarding soldiers so I would disagree with the author about the degree of courage needed by Joseph to approach the Roman authorities to ask for Jesus' body, for burial. Pontius Pilate said "I find no fault in this man". I think there was a level of sympathy to Jesus amongst the Roman army. The real opposition was the Sanhedrin and I agree that Joseph did go out on a limb and exhibit moral courage, to sympathise with Jesus against the Jewish Establishment. I believe there was a lot of behind the scenes diplomacy involved in the burial of Jesus. The whole scene was a cauldron of controversy, in which Jesus was caught up and of which he fell foul. This is highlighted in the book. An interesting book leaving with me a wish to find out even more about the life and times of Joseph of Arimathea.

    Very interesting read and good insight into the life of a little known bible character. This good was very current for me.
