In the introduction to this book the theme is quoted as being “the need for all Christians to seek more of God”. The author seeks to deal with the constant struggle that we have as Christians to understand how we can know more of God, How we can understand the work of the Holy Spirit as written in the Bible and he attempts to draw from the Bible a clear way for us all, whatever our churchmanship, to understand the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives today. He attempts to heal the rift or tension between ‘evangelicals’ and ‘Charismatics’ when considering the Holy Spirit, by looking in a thorough way at what the Bible actually teaches. It is a deep and very engaging book, almost an academic study, but equally readable by all who are prepared to sit and think as they read and compare the Scriptures that are considered.
Ultimately one feels that what Simon Ponsonby desires for us all, regardless of our churchmanship, is that we should know God better and deeper, and experience life with the Holy Spirit in all its fullness.
