Tucked away in the book of Numbers, amid instructions on wave offerings and haircutting, set in the ring of God's call to his people to be set apart for him, we find a sparkling diamond: God's gift of shining blessing, given to a weary people wandering in the wilderness.
God blesses those who don't deserve it, through those who don't deserve it; again and again he chooses to bless. He is preparing his people for life in the Promised Land. And he is blessing them us to be a blessing to all people.

The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face towards you
and give you peace.
Numbers 6:24–26 (NIV)
This is a great book, beautifully written and with such compassion. It's deep and rich and left me with a much greater understanding of what this beautiful blessing means for us today, even through the trials and storms of life.
It's clear all the way through this book, that Kate has a desire for people to know that God loves them deeply and wants to bless them and for people to see themselves as God sees them.
At the end of each chapter, there are questions that may be used to reflect and respond - making the book great as a devotional for personal or small group use. Things that regularly rob us of God’s peace, such as doubt, conflict, worry and issues around forgiveness, are addressed with sensitivity.
I have been really blessed by this book and I highly recommend it.
