Ministers David Felten and Jeff Procter-Murphy, along with an all-star cast of Bible scholars and top church teachers, provide a primer to a church movement that encourages every Christian to "live the questions" instead of "forcing the answers." Based on the bestselling DVD course of the same name, Living the Questions: The Wisdom of Progressive Christianity includes commentary from such bestselling authors as Diana Butler Bass, John Shelby Spong, Marcus Borg, John Dominic Crossan, Brian McLaren, and others. Tackling issues of faith and controversial subjects such as the church's position on homosexuality, Living the Questions is the most comprehensive, indeed the only survey of progressive Christianity in existence today.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

This is a book for those who are interested in attempting just what the title says. It doesn’t provide answers but it aims to make them unnecessary, opening a window on how to live with those ambiguities and contradictions for whose clear dogmatic answers we search in vain. So the questions have become the subjects of 21 short, well organised and referenced chapters. Here the Christian is offered a life journey dedicated to revelling in the unknowable, the unfathomable, for it is in this mystery that God is found. It attempts to strip scripture of its spin and make us comfortable with Biblical inconsistency. It encourages us to live both incarnation and resurrection for ourselves rather than through implausible accounts. It must be said that not all the chapters succeed, partly due to their brevity, but they do make stimulating reading. If the journey appeals, then this book is for you.
