‘On Holiday with God’ encourages Christians to retreat from the business of modern life and continually rejuvenate your soul.

Designed as a ‘travel companion’, this book gives you everything you need to make a personal retreat in the Christian tradition, either at home or away, alone or with others.

Part 1 encourages you to:
• Listen to the Spirit,
• Pay attention to inner restlessness
• Notice our need to 'get away'
• Outlines the different types of retreats to best suit your personalities and circumstances
• And offers you 'tips for the trip':
o introducing contemplation
o praying with Scripture
o noticing God in the everyday resisting 'busyness'
o recording the journey - i.e. prayer journal

Part 2 provides a varied and imaginative range of guided spiritual exercises for your time on retreat and offers support for the unexpected things that may emerge.

Part 3 helps you readjust to 'normal life' after the retreat and to explore the question 'where next?'

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

A useful resource and tool that is neither too deep nor too shallow but provides just the right amount of buoyancy and support for anyone looking to take time out with God and make their own personal retreat. It starts with a good solid contemplation on why and how you may want to take time out with God. It then moves on to address the detail of that ‘holiday’, what to take, what to do, where to go and how to find inspiration; thus we are provided with themed suggestions covering ideas such as visiting a gallery, being beside water or a lake, 'waiting' and contemplating what waiting is, visiting a market and even just walking, amongst others. Each one of these ‘inspirations’ includes prayers, reflections, thoughts, contemplations and more, that you could use just as they are or as part of your day and your experience. It really is an incredibly helpful resource, especially for those who maybe cannot afford a guided personal retreat but feel the need to take time out and away with God. I know I shall be using this book on my next camping trip to transform it from being merely refreshing to a retreat and time spent with God – real refreshment.
