'Terry Virgo is really stimulating to read on sheperd leadership and there is much wisdom to be gleaned in this book on prophetic and apostolic foundation for healthy church growth.'

The author is the founder of the Newfrontiers movement, which aims to recreate the Church as it is described in the book of Acts. This is his recipe for building such a Church – filled with the power of the Spirit, led by the Word, driven by prayer, receiving and passing on God’s grace and serving each other and the wider community in love. It does not claim that ‘we have got it right and the rest of you haven’t,’ nor is it hung up on styles of worship or the nuts and bolts of the services – more with the attitude of the believer and their openness to all God has to offer.
I have to declare an interest here – my church is a Newfrontiers church – so I was not expecting to learn anything new from this book, but I was wrong. I learned, amongst other things, how far we all still have to go to be the Church Jesus intended us to be! A useful read, not only for church leaders, but for everyone who craves a closer walk with God and a more effective expression of Him to the world.
