This collection of writings by the great Jesuit theologian Karl Rahner is translated by Anne-Marie Kidder, an American Presbyterian pastor. Of particular interest is the Rev. Kidder’s introduction where she sums up for us clearly and succinctly Karl Rahner’s thoughts on everyday spirituality and the liturgical seasons of the year. Rahner chose the extracts himself from his own works, particularly his letters, homilies, prayers and reflections. Although spiritually deep, these texts are at heart simple and inspiring, covering the whole range of the Church’s year from Advent through to Pentecost. There is ample food for reflection and prayer on every page. It is a book not only to be read but to be consulted frequently.
